Origami
As I wrote yesterday, I'm now into "Origami".
I went to the biggest bookstore in Tokyo to look for some good books.
Here is the one I liked the most.

This book introduces lots of goodies to creat.
The flowers in pink and purple are small bags!
You can put coins and small memo inside of this pretty flower.
This one was hard to make at first, and had to try again and again.

A friend of mine is organizing a party this weekends,
and she asked me to make nice table setting for this occasion with washi paper.
So I made them out of this book, too!

I love Origami so much now.
I used to play when I was a small kid with my mom.
Now I can play it with my daughter as well.
Hey, why don't we swap small things as we both live in the same country?
I'll include this small flower things and other origami work if you like them!

I would love to do a swap with you! But right now I'm so busy getting ready to move I don't know if I can. Lately, I haven't had so much time to craft. :( But when I come back to Japan then let's swap for sure!

!! when I was little, my grandfather had a coinpurse like those, only made of leather. He would keep silver dollars in it and give them to me & my brothers as a present. :)

I know which one you're talking about.
I guess my dad used to have similar purse, too.
Just one piece of square paper can create such a thing!
This is Origami magic, you know!

Origami is amazing! It requests so much patience and manual ability that sometimes I get mad and throw everything away :-)
I love those flowers! I can't wait to see more origami made by you!

Yes, Origami is really amazing.
I realized that.
It's true you need to be patient to finish the first pattern.
This flower one was difficult even for me, a Japanese!!

When I was a kid they used to sell packs of origami papers with instructions for animals and birds. I always found it really difficult for some reason. Not that I wasn't crafty but I just couldn't follow the directions and make it come out right. I'd get frustrated and give up. Maybe I just liked looking at the papers :)

Those little flower bags are very cute!

Many people say the same thing even for Japanese.
What you need here is patience, I guess!
That's why Japanese teach children how to origami!!
Now I know the reason :)

These are so beautiful!

I wish I had the patience for origami! I only know how to make a crane and I don't seem to be able to learn more =(

And I LOVE Japanese craft books! I have many chirimen zaiku craft books that I ordered over the last couple of years. They are so detailed, with beautiful diagrams and photographs - you never really see anything in the USA or Australia that well presented.

Hi Naomi.
It's true that you need to be patient to do origami!
But making a crane is a big project, I believe.
So you have enough patience for origami!

I totally agree that Japan has so many great craft books.
It's so much fun to go to a book store to see new craft books.
